About Rapid Environment Editor

Rapid Environment Editor (RapidEE) is an environment variables editor. It includes easy to use GUI and replaces small and inconvenient Windows edit box. RapidEE supports all Windows versions, including Windows Vista.

About Windows environment

Environment variables are specially named aliases for basic system properties. Here is the Microsoft's definition:

Environment variables are strings that contain information such as drive, path, or file name. They control the behavior of various programs. For example, the TEMP environment variable specifies the location in which programs place temporary files.

RapidEE could be useful to edit variables such as PATH, CLASSPATH (Java developers, it's for you), INCLUDE or LIB (respect to C++ developers) with comfort. Moreover you will never make a mistake, because RapidEE checks your input and highlights incorrect paths or filenames.

About portable mode

By default RapidEE uses registry to store settings. Though RapidEE could be run as a portable application using command line parameters:

RapidEE /cd or RapidEE_CD.bat
CD mode - read program settings from the .ini file. These settings will not be saved.
RapidEE /usb or RapidEE_USB.bat
USB mode - read and write program settings from/to the .ini file
Portable mode is ideal to run from the CD-ROM or USB flash drive on different computers.
